Through the connection of a mutual connection, I was connected to a locally owned wireless internet provider (WISP). I was originally tasked with implementing a management VLAN across the network and am now involved with the network engineering and routing of static IP addresses and other advanced routing. Before this engagement, I was by no means an expert with ISP technologies, but this experience has shown me that I’m quickly adaptable to a new industry. I had a short timeframe to fully understand the network before I could begin offering recommendations. Working on a live internet network is always engaging and requires extra diligence with the formidable threat of downtime and unhappy customers.
